The monster-king of the family.
Five seats, one enormous voice.
What it is
Balor is the car that widens the Éire family. Where the Eden GT is a 2+2 grand tourer built for two people and a long road, Balor carries five, sits higher, and asks to be driven harder. It belongs to the super-SUV segment — the class of car that lets a family travel together at speeds that used to be reserved for two-seaters.
It shares its heart with the Eden GT: the same cross-plane twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid family. In Balor that heart is tuned considerably more aggressive. The Eden GT is meant to be silent when you want it and violent when you want it; Balor leans toward the second half of that sentence. It should sound enormous going past.
The Idea
In Irish myth, Balor is the king of the Fomorians — a giant with a single eye that laid waste to whatever it looked upon. It is not a gentle name and it was not chosen to be one. Balor was picked because a super-SUV should carry a little menace.
The design follows the name. Balor is a planar monolith: flat surfaces meeting at hard edges, more stealth aircraft than sculpted crossover. The emerald honeycomb grille carries the trinity knot in copper, the three-blade lighting signature cuts across each corner, and the copper details are held to a minimum so the mass of the car does the talking.
Character
The Éire V8 hybrids share one voice in three registers. The Eden GT is deep thunder. Balor is that same thunder turned up — louder, harder, less polite. The Banshee, with its flat-plane crank, is the scream above them both. Balor's job in that chorus is weight and volume.
Its drivetrain philosophy has one rule we hold onto: zero miles of electric range never means zero performance. A plug-in hybrid that goes soft when its battery is spent has broken its promise. Balor keeps a protected performance reserve so that the car you drive at the end of the day is the same car you drove at the start of it.
The name.
But the monster still roars.
Where it stands
Concept
Balor is a concept — a design study that exists to test the idea of an Éire with five seats and a harder character. It is not a product, it has no order book, and the specifications behind it will change as the study matures.
The car that comes first is the Eden GT, and everything Balor becomes will be earned there. We are showing it now because the family only makes sense as a whole, and because we would rather you see where we are going than guess.
